A CodePink Thanksgiving in 'Wild Berkeley'   [W. Thomas Smith Jr.]

This week — while most Americans will be thanking God for our nation's blessings and thanking those who have striven and sacrificed to defend those blessings — here are a couple of things on tap for the fun bunch at CodePink (unedited, except for my my bracketed explanations, from their website) in what they refer to as their "beloved, wild, progressive Berkeley:"

On Tuesday —

Rachel [whoever she is] will lead Tai Chi in front of the [Marine] Recruiting Station ... Come join her and let the Recruiters - and those in danger of being recruited - know, TAI CHI is what we want in Berkeley, NOT soldiers!

 Then on Thanksgiving Day —

We are asking the brilliant, creative, peace-making citizens of Berkeley to come to the sidewalk in front of the Marine Recruiting Station and do what you treasture about Berkeley: hold Yoga classes, Raw Foods Demos, Breast-feeding Circles, Flower Arranging. Do a Job Fair, Face Painting, Bed-In, Teach-In, Meetings. Build Art Installations for peace, create memorials to victims of war, paper crane folding. Bring your drums, your voices, your social groups - just BE our beloved, wild, progressive BERKELEY.

Together we WILL shut down the Marine Recruiting Station ...

"Wild" is right. There's actually a lot more, but it's much of the same.

Editor’s note: Please see this note.
